MIAMI, FL, August 04, 2012 (Press-News.org) The South Florida National Basketball Players Association (NRBPA) has partnered with the Police Athletic League (PAL) of North Miami to host its First Annual Back To School Event titled "Transitioning PAL "on Wednesday August 15,2012 at the Christ Fellowship Church in Downtown Miami. Former players, who understand the challenge of transitioning from on the court to off the court will participate in workshops designed to educate and inspire parents and youth ages 10-18.
Former Los Angeles Laker, Irving Thomas, now the South Florida NBA Legend's Chapter President will be the Keynote speaker. The goal of the event is to counter statistics that forecast 3rd graders are not passing standardized testing, leading to only 61% high school seniors transitioning to college out of the 77% that actually graduate. Thomas along with other Event Leads will educate and inspire parents and youth on the importance of continued education and equip them with information ,resources ,and school supplies , all necessary components to maintain a healthy learning environment allowing youth to "transition "to higher education.
"This event will commemorate the New South Florida NBPA Chapter and its Initiatives .It will educate children and their parents on the power of self esteem partnered with positive communication with parent enforcement is the key to transitioning successfully in all avenues of life, said Joyce Johnson of iOWNpr , the official PR and Marketing counsel to the new South Florida NBPA chapter.
The First Annual Back To School Event "Transitioning PAL" is free and open to the public and will be held at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, August 15,2012 at Christ Fellowship Church located at 500 NE 1st Avenue Miami , FL 33132 .Free babysitting for 4th graders and below will be provided on site.
