Fortress Wapping Contents to be Auctioned

Pro Auction is pleased to announce the auction sale of the contents of the former News International Wapping site to be held online on 27th September 2012 commencing at 10.30am, over 700+ lots to be sold

2012-08-06
SOMERSET, ENGLAND, August 06, 2012 (Press-News.org) Pro Auction is pleased to announce the auction sale of the contents of the former News International Wapping site to be held online on 27th September 2012 commencing at 10.30am.

The 15-acre site bought by Berkeley Construction Group's, St George, was once home to the Sun, Sunday Times, News of the World and NI printing presses.

News International owned the Wapping site, dubbed "Fortress Wapping" for 25 years. The site will now be developed into a mix of homes, offices, shops and public open spaces by St George who specialise in high quality regeneration in London, combining new homes, apartments and penthouses with retail and leisure amenities for residents.

The auction will be conducted by Pro Auction, a leading European firm of plant and machinery auctioneers, who plan to sell everything from the boilers and water treatment systems through to office panelling and weighbridges.

With over 700 lots listed for auction the event is likely to attract strong interest in the well maintained and high specification of the plant.

The current recession means that auction houses have never been busier. Not only are plant & machinery auctions the typical way of selling these assets but they bring the opportunity to the buyer to purchase good quality readily available assets at a fraction of their new cost.

Mark Flynn of Pro Auction says that month on month they are seeing significant increases of equipment being offered for sale with strong prices being realised, no means are these a sign that the recession is over, but merely indicators that certain markets have higher demands for good quality lots and as a result, strong prices are being realised. In particular emerging new markets appear to be buoyant and ready to buy at auction from the UK.

The lots will be sold in catalogue order online through a Live Internet Bidding Facility from 10.30am, a viewing day has been arranged for the 25th & 26th September to allow prospective bidders a preview of the lots between 10:00am and 4:00pm.

Details of the sale can be obtained from the auction house Pro Auction on (+44) 01761 414000 or www.proauction.com

Pro Auction Limited are one of Europe's leading specialist valuers & auctioneer, providing a comprehensive range of services to ensure that the full value of surplus or redundant assets are realised, to maximum value, be that by a private treaty, tender or auction.
