HUDSON, OH, August 08, 2012 (Press-News.org) LifeCenter Plus Health and Fitness Club will hold "Fit for the Future 5K" family race on October 6. The event hopes to bring awareness to childhood obesity and to encourage kids to be "Fit for the Future." Money raised from the race will be donated to the Akron Children's Hospital to support its childhood obesity programs and Kohl's Department Store to battle childhood obesity.
"Obesity, especially in children, is an issue that can be prevented with education and exercise," said Jerry Lynch, co-owner of LifeCenter Plus. "The 5K will help bring awareness and preventative solutions to the issue. Plus, it's a great way for kids to have fun. Now is the time to walk or run with your children to prepare for this fun 5K race."
The race will be officiated and timed by Summit Athletic Club. Runners of all fitness levels and age groups are encouraged. There will be a water station, during the race. Awards will be handed out to the fastest runners, in different age and gender groups.
The 5K is open to LifeCenter Plus members and nonmembers, of all ages. Race fee is $20 per person. Children who are ages 12 and under are free. LifeCenter Plus and Summit Athletic Running Club members receive a $2 discount. Those interested can register at http://www.active.com by October 4, 2012.
