LUKAS - To Volunteer His Techniques For Kind Training WORLD'S SMARTEST HORSE Shares His Star Pupil!

Lukas - the World's Smartest Horse (according to The World Records Academy, 2010) will be sharing his expertise via owner/trainer Karen Murdock.

CHINO HILLS, CA, October 05, 2010

Lukas - the World's Smartest Horse (according to The World Records Academy, 2010) will be sharing his expertise via owner/trainer Karen Murdock at the forty-third International Certified Horsemanship Association Conference in Lake City, Florida, on October 22, 2010. Murdock is slated to give a presentation speech on Lukas' techniques followed by a liberty demonstration with four horse-handler pairs.

According to Murdock: "So many people have been curious about Lukas' training that I'm very excited to be able to share him with other trainers, and hopefully influence methods on a broader scale. This is a system that I've spent a lifetime developing, incorporating elements from a wide variety of areas. I also draw heavily from my background as a psychiatric nurse employing scientific and systematic steps that produce maximum results." Topics include the following:

Three main tools and how to blend them for optimal success.

Where most trainers get stuck.

How to elicit cooperation and motivate others.

Ways to have more fun and incorporate play.

What kind of pressure are we talking about?

What you'll never see Murdock do - even though it's a common practice - and what she uses instead.

Using good training sense and what that means.

Comparisons between traditional techniques, newer developments and Murdock's system.

Going beyond the ordinary using highly effective strategies to enhance learning.

Principles that are helpful and useful in a wide variety of situations.

Problem-solving techniques using non-stressful methods.

Improving rapport, trust, confidence and respect while doing less and achieving more.

The "secret" to how Lukas learned to learn.

The five training bars to elevate your partnership and performance.

Excerpts from Murdock's speech:

"For those of you who haven't heard, Lukas has been on NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, HLN and Inside Edition. The Associated Press and America Online released feature stories about him and he's been in countless newsletters, forums blogs and newspapers all over the world. The World Records Academy has recognized Lukas as the world's smartest horse and Guinness is reviewing a record attempt by him: "Most numbers identified by a horse in one minute."

"Lukas' cognitive tasks consist of identifying letters, numbers and shapes, discriminating colors, and he's also grasped the concepts of spatial relationships, object permanence, same/different, proportion and absentness."

"In addition, Lukas is considered one of the top liberty horses in the country and he performs to benefit non-profits. His current liberty repertoire (loose and without any equipment; Murdock doesn't even own a whip) includes the yes, no, pose, yawn, smile, kiss (wet and dry), crossing his front legs, legs all together, being "blindfolded," pedestal work, curtsey, bow, catch, fetch, Spanish Walk (forward and backward), stay and come and come and going to a mark, jambette, hide-and-seek, acting lame, sit, passage and the rear, among others. Above all though, I prize our bond, which has received the most acclaim globally. Our purpose being to share the happy results of kind training and to show how wonderful and intelligent animals are for their improved treatment."

Thank you, Christy Landwehr and the CHA for the invitation - hope to see everyone there!
