GeoCheckpointing Announces New Free Android GPS App

New GeoCheckpointing application is available on the Google Play and GeoCheckpointing website.

CZECH REPUBLIC, August 09, 2012

GeoCheckpointing, a new outdoor game where the players use GPSr or GPS-powered smartphone to find GeoCheckpoints (control points hidden close to some places worth to visit), becomes more user-friendly thanks a new application for Android called GeoCheckpoint Finder.

This app makes possible to find the GeoCheckpoints any time and anywhere without preparation. There is no need to obtain the GeoCheckpoint coordinates before going for a trip. The coordinates of the nearest GeoCheckpoints can be downloaded by the application and saved on the device. After saving them, users have access to the GeoCheckpoint descriptions and coordinates even without internet connection.

There are two options how they can be navigated. They can use an arrow which shows the direction to the GeoCheckpoint. This option does not require data plan. With an internet connection, it is possible to use Google Maps application which displays the users' position and the target. When they find the GeoCheckpoint, they can log it using the app so they do not need to visit the website.

It is also possible to set up the target manually. Thanks this feature the application can be used not only for GeoCheckpointing, but also for hiking or other GPS outdoor games like Geocaching, Munzee, Terracaching or Opencaching.

GeoCheckpoint Finder can be downloaded from Google Play (former Android Market) or from http://www.geocheckpointing.com/geocheckpointing-software.php .
