Independently Published and Self-Published Horror/Fantasy Author Sue Dent, Representing Black Bed Sheet Books and Her Home State of Mississippi, to Appear at Fan Expo Canada 2012 August 23-26th
2012-08-15
RIDGELAND, MS, August 15, 2012 (Press-News.org) Sue Dent applied back in February to attend Fan Expo Canada, filling out the application for Professional Registration but then putting the thought of being accepted aside. After all, having this application accepted meant being able to show at Fan Expo Canada as a "guest" author with all the perks that come with it. "Honestly," Sue says, "I forgot all about the application after I sent it in. Needless to say I was stunned when I learned it had been accepted. This will be the first con I've attended where I didn't have to pay just to set up shop. And what a Con! I might actually break even." Sue says, "I am indeed honored and can not wait to meet John Carpenter whom I've admired for some time."

As a bonus, Ms. Dent will be offering mini CDs of her e-books for sale with one important and fascinating addition; the ability to sign and personalize "on the spot" each e-book sold. This technology isn't new but taking this technology to conventions and traditional book signings is. No other author at Fan Expo Canada will be doing signings this way. Sue will also offer to take photos with the customer to put in the e-book if desired. The mini-cd will have all e-book versions on it and the e-book of preference will be sent to the customers e-mail address. "So come be a part of something new and wonderful," Sue says. "I look forward to sharing."

One more bonus will be that Ms. Dent hopes to have signed, hard-to-find copies of Nicholas Grabowsky's "Halloween IV" on hand. "Mr. Grabowsky, who is also my publisher, has indicated that he thinks he can provide a few of these for me to sell," Sue says. "I'm bringing my own signed copy to see if I can coerce John Carpenter to sign it and then hopefully Brad Loree who played, Michael Myers in "Halloween IV." Having Mr. Loree, recently cast in David Madison's "Mr. Hush," sign this book would just be awesome and icing on the cake."

Sue will be selling, along with her e-books, physical copies of Never Ceese which made the 2007 Bram Stoker Preliminary Ballot for Superior Achievement in a First Novel, Forever Richard which made the 2009 British Fantasy Society's Long List and her latest release Electric Angel which received an official resounding review from the British Fantasy Society as well as an "unofficial" two word review: "Simply Brilliant!" from Maryann Boo. "I regret that Gothic Illusionist and cover model for Electric Angel, Ron Fitzgerald won't be able to join me but his acting obligations keep him fairly busy. Do know that the e-book version of "Electric Angel" has three extra photos of him, taken by the masterful Jim Sorfleet of SNSPhoto.com, and they are definitely worth seeing!"

Another Black Bed Sheet Author, Shannon Lee will be at Sue's table promoting her own work and Alan Draven, yet another Black Bed Sheet Author, will be around the corner in Artist's Alley. "There are so few physical venues for Independent authors to sell at these days," Sue says, "unless it's on consignment which is not conducive to making money which is why the large publishers don't operate that way. So please support us by coming out and meeting us and buying our books. Once again, I'm honored to have had my professional application accepted and even more honored to be sitting shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Kelly Armstrong, Sephera Giron, Karen Dales and so many others."

Ms. Dent will come out of Fan Expo Canada to attend a local con, The Backwoods Comic's Festival in Louisville, Mississippi September 29th setting up inside the coliseum in her mini-hearse (Black HHR.) She'll then move on to be on a panel at the first Writers Conference at The Crump Theatre. in Ohio on Saturday, October the 6th. "Like I said," Sue emphasizes, "these writer's conferences and cons are quickly becoming the only way for Independent authors to get in front of their fans without losing their shirts. So come say hello and throw some dollars our way. We appreciate the support. More than you can imagine."

Sue Dent is currently published by Black Bed Sheet Books, "fine publishers of exemplary literature, fiction and non." You may contact her publisher at bbsadmin@downwarden.net or you may contact the author at www.SueDent.net.
