Jackson Design & Remodeling Wins Four Master Design Awards: Winning Projects Feature Designs Ranging from Art-Inspired and Rustic Modern to California Coastal
2012-08-17
SAN DIEGO, CA, August 17, 2012 (Press-News.org) Jackson Design & Remodeling (JDR) is proud to announce it has won four Master Design Awards, the prestigious peer-to-peer awards program for professional remodelers by Qualified Remodeler Magazine.

Jackson Design & Remodeling earned a Gold Master Design Award in the category Kitchens $50k -$100k for a rustic modern kitchen remodel located on the outskirts of La Jolla. Honoring the clients' desire for warm tones of wood, expansive space, and a blend of both rustic and modern spirit, JDR Designer Bonnie Bagley-Catlin, Architect Jim Groen, Structural Designer Chris Ashby and the JDR remodeling team blended natural elements, such as the warm and authentic texture of the island's reclaimed wood backdrop, with clean lines, neutral colors and an open floor plan.

JDR also won three Silver Master Design Awards in the following categories:

Kitchens $50k-$100k
JDR Designer Rosella Gonzalez, Architect Jim Groen and Structural Designer John Kavan led the JDR design build team on this kitchen remodel. Structural changes created more visual harmony with the outdoors and with the living and dining areas of the home, adding a significant amount of light to the kitchen. Colors and materials were selected to echo the lush greenery outdoors. A carefully planned layout encompasses space for all the appliances expected in a modern kitchen, along with a home for the couple's large collection of cookbooks and efficient areas for prep and cooking. The homeowners now invite guests into their dream kitchen to share the room's warm, naturally artistic vibe and its welcoming, open space.

Kitchens $100k and above
This functional, art-inspired kitchen acts as a canvas for the homeowners' life-long collection of art. The JDR team, including Designer Sol Quintana Wagoner, Architect Jim Groen and Structural Designer Chris Ashby encouraged the use of color and introduced materials and textures with layers of visual appeal. The space was designed with careful attention to balance and symmetry. Appliances are rigorously flush with the cabinetry, contributing to the feeling of a clean and open space. An organically shaped custom-designed light fixture makes a dramatic statement in the center of the room, setting the stage for the artwork displayed throughout the kitchen.

Whole Homes $500k and above
Designed by JDR Senior Designer Tatiana Machado-Rosas and Structural Designer Chris Ashby, this whole home remodel in Old Del Mar, California is an artful interpretation of California Coastal aesthetics, combined with contemporary notes and softer elements inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement. Significant structural changes opened up the home to light and ventilation while creating natural gathering places for the family. The new design added 1,723 sq. feet to the home, making a total of 4,341 sq. feet including the garage (3,891 sq. feet sq. feet without the garage). Three generations now easily join together to enjoy each other and the comfortable and appealing new surroundings in their home.

The Master Design Awards are judged by remodeling industry peers from across the country making it one of the most prestigious and sought-after annual awards programs in the industry. Awards are given to Gold, Silver, Bronze and Honorable Mention winners in each of the 22 award categories.

"We are honored to receive these Master Design awards," said Todd Jackson, president and CEO of JDR. "To have four distinctly different projects representing the work of our designers, architects, project managers and the entire Jackson team - is really special. This is an exciting day for the entire Jackson Design family."

The winning projects will be featured in the September 2012 issue of Qualified Remodeler and on their website at ForResidentialPros.com.
