2010-10-06
LAKE DISTRICT, ENGLAND, October 06, 2010 (Press-News.org) People visiting Cumbria during Bonfire Night this year may like to head to one of the region's biggest fireworks displays for a memorable evening.

The Carlisle Fireshow takes place on Saturday November 6th this year and has an estimated attendance of 35,000 people, with locals and Lake District holidaymakers gathering at the city's Bitts Park.

Admission is completely free, although donations are collected for charitable causes during the event.

People staying in Lake District accommodation should find plenty to enjoy at this traditional Guy Fawkes Night event.

The spectacular fireworks display is set to music for added drama, while the large bonfire, fairground rides and food outlets should be enough to keep all families entertained.

Situated in the centre of Carlisle, Bitts Park lies on the banks of the River Eden and is one of the area's most popular green spaces.

Visitors heading to the attraction during the day can enjoy the ornamental lawns, Japanese garden, maze and picnic areas.

Bitts Park may also be known to hikers, as a section of the Hadrian's Wall National Trail passes through the area.

The Carlisle Fireshow is due to get underway between 19:00 and 20:00. Parking is free and the park is also accessible by public transport.

LateRooms.com recommends a range of accommodation in the Lake District, including the Sharrow Bay Hotel Lake District.
