100 Years of Scouting and the Centennial of One of the Youngest Eagle Scouts - L. Ron Hubbard
2010-10-06
LOS ANGELES, CA, October 06, 2010 (Press-News.org) They are well-known pioneers of space, music, business, scientific innovation, humanitarian endeavors and well-known political figures - and all have one thing in common: they have depended on their Eagle Scout training to help them lead inspiring lives and influence the world for the better. Neil Armstrong, Michael Bloomberg, Steve Fossett, John F. Kennedy, Gerald Ford Jr. and L. Ron Hubbard are among some of the nation's most prestigious Eagle Scouts.

Scouting has been celebrated throughout this summer in its 100th anniversary, and the centennial celebration of Eagle Scout L. Ron Hubbard will be commencing in 5 months time commemorating the 100th anniversary of his birth. L. Ron Hubbard was born in Tilden, Nebraska on March 13th 1911 and is widely known as the Founder of Dianetics and Scientology. L. Ron Hubbard also became the the nation's youngest Eagle Scout in 1924, just 2 weeks after his thirteenth birthday.

By the age of 19 he had traveled over 250,000 miles and became a prolific writer of fiction in the 1930s and 1940s--publishing over 138 short stories, novelettes and novels. His writing funded his research into the mind forming the basis of what later became Dianetics & Scientology.

During World War II he served as Lieutenant in the US Navy where he saw action in the Atlantic and Pacific. He later attributed his Scouting experience to seeing himself safely through the War - precisely as founder of the Scouting movement Baden-Powell had intended.

After the war L. Ron Hubbard continued his research into the human mind and on May 9th, 1950 Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health was released and has become one of the best selling self-help books with over 20 million copies sold and is now available in 50 languages. Shortly after Dianetics came the founding of Scientology in 1952 and what has grown into a worldwide movement that has helped people from all walks of life.
