Rocky Top Hospitality Expands Children's Menu To Offer Healthier Dining Options

Local Restaurants Revise Children's Menu With Increased Variety, Nutritional Value

2012-08-22
RALEIGH, NC, August 22, 2012 (Press-News.org) Dean Ogan, owner of Rocky Top Hospitality (http://www.rockytophospitality.com/), has announced that the company's restaurants, including Rockwell's American Grill, Tribeca Tavern and The Twisted Fork, have expanded their children's menu in an effort to increase overall variety and provide healthier dining options to local families. Offered to children 10 years of age and younger, meals are $5 and include an entree of choice, side, dessert and a beverage. The revision of children's menus falls in line with Rocky Top Hospitality's partnership with and support for Advocates for Health in Action (AHA) and its restaurant project initiatives to pilot healthier dining options for children in restaurants across Wake County. AHA fosters and supports community efforts emphasizing healthier eating and physical activity throughout the local community.

Each of the Rocky Top Hospitality menus vary based on the individual restaurant's focus, but all include grilled salmon, hamburgers, asparagus, barbecue ribs and yogurt. Rockwell's American Grill, a modern grill inspired by American classics, offers children pancakes, French toast, meatloaf with gravy, potato dumplings, succotash, scrambled eggs and pasta. Tribeca Tavern, which is known for its gourmet burgers, offers children flounder, barbecue wings, steamed shrimp, sweet potato casserole, creamy grits, and a tomato, cucumber and black-eyed pea salad. The Twisted Fork, a casual chophouse and bar combined with a fresh bakery, offers steak, spaghetti, fish and chips, sauteed spinach and rice pilaf.

QUOTES:
"Rocky Top Hospitality has been a longtime supporter of and advocate for the local community, which is one of the many reasons that motivated us to step back and revaluate the dining options we were offering to children," said Ogan. "It is important for our restaurants to provide customers with excellent food that is both tasty and nutritious. That is why we felt it so strongly about making healthier children's menu items available."
