Local News Station Continues Sponsorship For Charity Event Supporting 9/11 Victims With Cancer

RALEIGH, NC, August 24, 2012 (Press-News.org) ABC11 Eyewitness News (http://www.abc11.com) has announced that it will once again sponsor the Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic. The 19th Annual Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic will take place from Aug. 24 to Aug. 26 and on Sept. 15. ABC11 news anchors will attend the event providing coverage to viewers. The event will begin with the 2012 ESPN Pre-V, during which 72 golfers will compete head-to-head in a Ryder-Cup-format event on two teams of 36. On Friday, Aug. 24 the 2012 Reverse Raffle will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Raleigh Convention Center. During the raffle, approximately 1,000 tickets will be sold for $100 each. The grand prize will be a new Leith BMW, 128i. Prizes will be awarded throughout the evening to ticket holders selected at random. In addition to the raffle, there will be a silent auction and smaller side raffles taking place during the event. A Pairings Party will take place on Friday as well for golf participants and their guests. The V Gala will take place on Saturday, Aug. 25 in the grand ballroom of the Raleigh Convention Center at 6:30 p.m. The 2012 V Gala will be a black-tie affair that will celebrate a year of achievements in cancer research by the V Foundation. Additionally, the event will recognize and honor 9/11 first responders that are now battling cancer. The weekend's last event, the 19th Annual Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic, will take place on Sunday, Aug. 26 at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course on Centennial Campus at NC State University.

The final event, Racquets for Research, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15 at the North Hills Club in Raleigh. This event will provide tennis enthusiasts from around the Triangle with the chance to play with and receive instruction from professional tennis players such as Don Johnson, 2001 Wimbledon Men's Doubles Champion and collegiate Tennis Hall of Fame inductee.

All money raised at the event will be donated to the V Foundation to support its efforts in cancer research.
