ANN ARBOR, MI, August 31, 2012 (Press-News.org) Online Tech, the Midwest's premier data center operator, congratulates Jason Yaeger, Director of Operations, who has received the 2012 Crain's CIO Award presented by Crain's Detroit Business. The winners of the Crain's CIO award were chosen based on revenue management and risk avoidance.
"I am honored to receive the 2012 Crain's CIO recognition, and I remain dedicated to reducing risk and protecting Online Tech's clients by implementing redundancy and fail-safes at every turn," said Yaeger.
This focus on consistent processes and resiliency has allowed Online Tech to complete independent SSAE 16 (SOC 1), SOC 2, SOC 3, HIPAA, and PCI audits.
Comparable to a successful "heart transplant," Yaeger was instrumental in completing the replacement of Online Tech's Mid-Michigan data center's entire UPS (uninterruptible power supply) infrastructure. The "transplant" involved planning and overseeing the replacement of the UPS infrastructure over the course of three days. Without experiencing any server downtime, the around-the-clock engineering teams replaced 25 tons of high-voltage equipment, resulting in an additional 100KW and significant energy improvements.
Yaeger played a key role in Online Tech's $1M investment in their Mid-Michigan data center, achieving a fully redundant and audited IT infrastructure while meeting national energy efficiency standards. This improvement resulted in Online Tech becoming Michigan's first data center to achieve the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR Certification, putting Online Tech in the top 25 percent of facilities in the nation regarding energy performance.
Yaeger implemented the policies and technologies necessary to pass numerous data center audits conducted by independent auditors, giving Online Tech a nationally competitive advantage in secure and multi-compliant hosting. All of these contributions came in addition to reducing support ticket resolution time, improving client touch points, and delivering millions of dollars worth of new customer implementations - none of which could have been done without Yaeger's highly effective operations team or support from the organization.
Yaeger has more than 10 years of IT management experience and also serves as Online Tech's Risk Management Officer and Security Officer. He oversees Operations throughout Online Tech's three data centers. Yaeger is also involved in client installations, support and managed services and has technologically positioned Online Tech as the only independently audited HIPAA, SOC 2 and PCI compliant data center.
