LARCHMONT, NY, September 07, 2012 (Press-News.org) On Monday, September 10th at 5:30 PM, Clarke Auction moves into what owner Ronan Clarke regards as their new year with an eclectic mix of over 400 lots of antiques, fine art, midcentury modern and Asian items.
As always, the sale starts with fine art. Expected to do well is an oil on plaster by Russian-American colorfield artist, Jules Olitski. This painting is of note as it is from his early and rare period c. 1958 and has never before been offered on the market.
African-American art has been a staple of Clarke Auction sales and this sale proves no exception with 2 large and wonderful oils by Alvin Hollingsworth and 3 abstract oils by New York artist Daniel LaRue Johnson.
In keeping with this midcentury style are oils by Atillo Salemme, Mario Yrisarry and Croatian artist Duro Pulitika. This is a great selection of art for young collectors and seasoned investors.
This sale is well rounded and has great porcelains such as Sevres urns, a pair of magnificent Napoleonic pedestals, a rare pair of Meissen pate-sur-pate vases plus large collections of art pottery and Royal Doulton, to name a few.
With the furniture market weak Clarke recommends that potential furniture buyers get out and buy now before the bottom market trends upwards. Clarke's September 10th sale has great furniture and midcentury modern to warrant coming and filling up your truck. Midcentury of note includes a Paul Evans mixed metal coffee table, Paul McCobb slate top desk, and collections of Dunbar, Lucite and Danish Modern.
Last but not least, Clarke has a great estate of Asian items including jade, enamels, bronzes, export porcelain, lapis and chinoiserie decorated furniture. Keeping silver buyers happy are lots of Tiffany, S. Kirk, Gorham and a platinum, diamond and blue topaz ring.
With too much more to mention, Clarke suggests you enjoy an evening out on Monday September 10th at 5:30 PM at Clarke Auction, 2372 Boston Post Road, Larchmont, NY 10538. View Clarke's catalog at www.ClarkeNY.com. Phone: 914-833-8336.
