Many marketers will be shocked to realize that only 15% of college students currently attend four-year universities and live on campus.

SheerID's graphic is based on the results of two surveys SheerID conducted of students currently enrolled in 2 year, 4 year, and graduate degree programs, along with census data and facts from the National Center of Education Statistics. SheerID's surveys were taken both electronically and manually and focused on college students' use of student discounts.

"When they're marketing to the college market, many retailers focus on targeting the 18-24 year old demographic.
