WATFORD, ENGLAND, October 07, 2010 (Press-News.org) Telehealth Solutions is pleased to announce the first installation of their SurgeryPod at a SystmOne surgery in Lincolnshire.
TPP's SystmOne is a 'practice management system', its software stores medical records and other information for GP surgeries in a fast, easy-to-access and intuitive program.
Telehealth Solutions SurgeryPod enables patients to perform their own tests - without clinical supervision; and the results are instantly read-coded into their electronic health record on SystmOne.
It means that blood pressure checks, lung volume measurements, CVD risk assessments and more can be taken - without having to make an appointment with the GP or practice nurse.
It reduces costs for the general practice by reducing the number of appointments taken up by routine checks. Instead patients who need a regular blood pressure measurement can spend their next visit with the GP receiving advice and support - with the added information from their SurgeryPod check. The GP can use that time to see patients who need an emergency appointment or diagnostic assessment.
TPP believes the integration between Telehealth Solutions SurgeryPod and SystmOne is an important step forward in addressing the challenges of running a modern GP practice. The integration also reflects the recent 'Liberating the NHS' white paper's advice to 'take full advantage of the exciting new possibilities opened up by assistive technologies.'
The pilot, at Old Leake Medical Centre in Boston, is due to begin on Tuesday 28th September. Once the pilot has successfully been completed, the technology will then be available to any other SystmOne surgery.
John Dyson, Chief Executive of the company, said "Telehealth Solutions is pleased to be working with TPP and to announce integration of the SurgeryPod with SystmOne. It means more efficiency for the SystmOne user, reducing reception waiting times and appointments spent on taking simple medical measurements, yet also an enhanced experience for the patient - convenient flexible use, and GP appointments receiving advice and care, not routine procedures. This is what both TPP and Telehealth Solutions are about, enhancing patient experiences and making primary care provision easier and more cost-effective."
TPP's Clinical Director, John Parry, echoes this sentiment; "The SurgeryPod is a clear and significant example of technology that will support "Equity and Excellence - Liberating the NHS", freeing up practice resources to improve access, improving the patient experience and increasing efficiency."
