Business Doubles Third Consecutive Year For Overland Park Auto Detailing Company

KC Detailing, an Overland Park auto detailing company, has double its business for the third year in a row.

2012-09-22
KANSAS CITY, MO, September 22, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Overland Park auto detailing company KC Detailing has posted a doubling of gross sales for their third consecutive year - quite a feat since the economic crash of 2008. The locally owned mobile car detailing business has gone from one employee with a hose and a bucket to a fleet of vans running seven days a week in just three years.

Owner Tim Dodd comments on his success these past years, "Lots of hard work. That's how we've done it. And then, some more hard work. Of course, we do offer an awesome service. Who doesn't like having their car detailed while they're at home or work? But my opinion is the reason we've gotten to where we are so fast is because of all the work our team has put into the business these last few years. And now it's starting to pay off."

Traditionally auto detailing has been done in a shop or other fixed location. These days, just like everything else, detailing has gone mobile. With their fleet of vans fully equipped with power and water, KC Detailing found that many of their clients are businessmen whose time is a precious commodity. The idea of not having to take a few hours out of the day to get their Mercedes Benz detailed is more than appealing. It's prudent.

"Our being mobile is certainly a huge contributor to our success," comments company administrator Isaac Anderson. "I've seen that our Overland Park customers are usually very busy people that work hard at their job, own nice cars and need to keep working hard. They don't want to spend their free time doing their own auto detailing."

On the flip side growing quickly does not come without its challenges, as every business owner knows. "Exponential growth has presented us with a number of challenges," comments Dodd, "usually a business has more time to develop its infrastructure and systems. We've had to adopt what I call a 'ready, fire, aim' model. We prepare as best we can, run with it and update it as we go. I think that's actually helped us be much more efficient, flexible and evolve more quickly than if we grew slowly. I'd rather have the challenge of how to handle business bursting at the seams than not having enough."

KC Detailing has had another factor in their favor this busy year - the weather. With one of the warmest winters on record last year and this summers drought nothing has stopped the mobile detailing team from being out on the field getting the job done. The favorable weather has given KC Detailing a boost in business that a weather dependent company would otherwise not enjoy.

Though times are good for this Overland Park car detailing business, KC Detailing isn't wasting any time preparing for what may lie ahead. Dodd and Anderson are continually strategizing how to improve their services and stay ahead of the competition. Plans are also in the works to franchise the company.

Growing from one man with a hose and a bucket to a fleet of vehicles in a few short years has this journalist convinced that KC Detailing is doing something different, and right. To keep up with this up and coming company visit http://www.kcdetailing.com.
