Eisenhower Dog Park Grand Opening

Calling all dogs! Eisenhower Park will be hosting the Grand Opening of the new off-leash dog park.

WESTBURY, NY, September 22, 2012

Socializing, running, chasing, barking and a dedication of The Eisenhower Dog Park will be part of the festive Grand Opening of the new Eisenhower Dog Park on Saturday, October 13 in Westbury, NY.

Located at the corner of Stewart Ave and Salisbury Park Drive (on the north side of the park). The park is on the former site of an under-used basketball court and baseball field at the corner of Stewart Ave and Salisbury Park Drive (on the north side of the park). It has a small parking lot for 20 cars or so. It will be a natural grass field, which will enjoyed by the dogs.

Saturday's events will begin at 11:00 am with a 21 dog howling salute performed by all the dogs attending. the formal ribbon cutting and dedication will begin at 11:15

Speakers will include:
- Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano
- Nassau County Legislator Norma Gonsalves
- LI-DOG Board Member Chris Laubis
- LI-DOG President Virginia Munger Kahn

The ribbon cutting ceremony will be immediately followed by the formal dedication of the Eisenhower Dog Park. Following the formal events, LI-DOG will host "A Day at The Park" with vendors, dog training demonstration, prizes and giveaways.

The almost two acre park will feature an area for small dogs, an area for large dogs with separate entrances. The park also features shade gazebo, benches, waste containers, water fountain for the dogs provided by park sponsor, Pet Supplies Plus.
Pet Supplies Plus is sponsoring the park and working with Nassau County officials to develop it. "This public/private approach should be a model for other dog parks," said LI-DOG President Virginia Munger Kahn.

Please note: The dog park is still closed to all unauthorized personnel and non-construction personnel, for safety reasons, until its Grand Opening. The site is still under construction, unauthorized entry may result in personal injury, damage to park features and potentially delay opening.
