By Popular Demand: Pierre Sibille Returns for an Extended Engagement to Ashford & Simpsons Legendary Sugar Bar

In France, one of the main figures is Pierre Sibille. . . . [he has] the gift of a husky voice, a [keyboard] played naturally with 'a dirty sound' and some very well written music

2012-09-26
NEW YORK, NY, September 26, 2012 (Press-News.org) Popular Parisian composer, keyboardist, harmonica player and vocalist Pierre Sibille will be returning for an extended engagement to perform live at Ashford & Simpson's renowned Sugar Bar in NYC on Tuesdays throughout the month of October 2012, including October 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30th. All shows will begin at 8:00 PM. Pierre Sibille's soulful voice and heart-felt delivery are augmented by his tasteful keyboard approach, which rhythmically and melodically enhances his engaging original songs—and to top it off he plays a wicked harmonica! At Sugar Bar he will be performing tunes from his latest well-received CD, Since I Ain't Got You, as well as songs from his highly anticipated upcoming CD release, Catch Me, I'm Falling—in collaboration with American songwriter/producer Jack Robinson—and other favorites.

"In France, one of the main figures is Pierre Sibille. . . . [he has] the gift of a husky voice, a [keyboard] played naturally with 'a dirty sound' and some very well written music . . ."—Sir Ali, Nova Magazine

At all the performances at Sugar Bar in October Pierre will be appearing with a group of seasoned pros, members of Back Alley Players (www.backalleyplayers.com), the house band at Sugar Bar's weekly Tuesday night "Nuttin' But the Blues" series, including New York's own Johnny T. (Turco) on guitar, Howie Robbins on Keyboards, Tony Stevenson on Bass, drummer Phonzy Wesby and Dennis Morriarty on Harmonica. Back Alley Players are a tight and tasty group of phenomenal players, amply demonstrated on their highly successful CD release, Beyond the Blues.

"Beyond the Blues is a fantastic and fresh debut . . ."
-Jon Norton, Music Director at WGLT, Normal, IL, for Blues Blast Magazine

While taking piano lessons at the age of six, to express his displeasure with the strictly classical approach of his teacher Pierre Sibille rebelliously asked him, "Why learn to read notes when Ray Charles plays without seeing?" This was an early indication of the trajectory his music would take in the future, yet he did eventually complete his music education at the venerable American School of Modern Music in Paris (a Berklee College-class academy). By the age of 19 he was performing at the eminent Paris Jazz club, Les Trois Maillets. Since those early years Pierre has become a mainstay in the French music scene performing his dynamic R&B/Soul music at festivals, concerts and nightclubs, most recently at France's most prestigious Jazz festival, the Marciac Jazz Festival, with Keith B. Brown, and he makes frequent trips to appear in the U.S. for enthusiastic audiences.

Don't miss this rare opportunity to catch the live performances of Pierre Sibille with Back Alley Players, a supporting cast of distinctive and accomplished professionals, for a night of great music and, simply put, a real good time.

"[Sibille] is a pianist with a sure touch . . ."—Jacques Perrin, Soul Bag
