Miami Community Leadership Training Institute Accepting Applications from Emerging Leaders

South Florida's emerging leaders and community organizers are invited for an opportunity to participate in free leadership training hosted by the Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida.

MIAMI, FL, September 26, 2012 (Press-News.org) Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida (NHSSF) is accepting applications for the Miami Community Leadership Institute (CLI) from residents of Miami-Dade County who are interested in taking a leadership role within their community. The Institute includes seven (7) workshops, training activities, and a neighborhood action project to be cultivated during the series. At the conclusion of the Institute, participants will be better equipped to implement their own ideas for programs and activities to strengthen their neighborhood. There is no cost to participate and the workshops will be held during October and November at Miami Dade College's Carrie Meek Entrepreneurial Educational Center located at 6300 NW 7th Ave, Miami, FL 33150.

"We have found in neighborhoods throughout Miami, there are residents who want to play an active role in helping to make their communities better, and the Miami Community Leadership Institute is our effort to equip them with the leadership skills to become citizen leaders," shares Benji Power, Director of Community Building at NHSSF.

The Miami CLI includes an in-depth leadership development process based on a hybrid curriculum that combines training sessions on team building, effective communication, conflict resolution, and community organizing with hands on activities to create a hypothetical project idea to benefit their community. The Institute will build on the leadership development curriculum introduced at the two-day Miami Community Leadership Forum held on September 8TH and 9TH of this year.

There is no cost to enroll and space is limited. Participants are required to go through a competitive application and selection process which includes committing to being available to attend all seven sessions.
