RALEIGH, NC, September 29, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Carolina Designer Craftsmen Guild (http://www.carolinadesignercraftsmen.com) has announced that Michael Gallagher, a craftsperson from Fuquay-Varina, N.C., will be featured at the 43rd Annual Fine Designer Crafts Show at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh from Friday, Nov. 23 until Sunday, Nov. 25. Gallagher plans to display furniture pieces, including hall tables, television consoles, lingerie cabinets, jewelry boxes and wine bars, which will range from $300 to $3000.
Gallagher became involved in craftsmanship while attending art school at the Maine College of Art in Portland, Maine, where he received his bachelor's of fine arts degree in woodworking and furniture design. His style is a blend of contemporary studio furniture with Danish-modern and Asian influences. He begins crafting pieces with rough sketches, dimensions and loose ideas of form, stance, tone and textures. As Gallagher constructs objects, he refines details, such as edge treatments, curves and final placements, which allow each piece to be made exactly as he envisioned. His top priority as an artist is to create objects with function.
Gallagher has been awarded a professional development grant and has had his work featured in the Artist Educator's Exhibit at Artspace in Raleigh. Along with owning the Splintered Studio, a furniture, lighting and home accessories studio in Raleigh, Gallagher teaches woodworking at NC State University's Crafts Center.
QUOTES:
"We are pleased to welcome Michael to the annual Fine Designer Crafts Show," said Elizabeth Lyne, president of the Carolina Designer Craftsmen Guild. "Michael's beautiful pieces incorporate skillful craftsmanship, contemporary style and functionality. We are confident visitors will love his furniture."

This perception of the self image starts to form right from the fetus stage. The human mind/brain becomes conscious in the womb and it begins to form a perception/image of its own self and even of its world. The fetus experiences love, warmth and security ...
