2012-10-04
MINNETONKA, MN, October 04, 2012 (Press-News.org) Nexen Group recently launched its breakthrough Harmonic Gearhead at this year's International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago. With over 100,000 attendees present to preview the newest manufacturing technologies from nearly 2,000 exhibitors, Nexen's Harmonic Gearhead debuted to outstanding feedback.

A first-of-its kind, true zero backlash automation gearhead, Nexen's Harmonic Gearhead is designed to deliver superior positional accuracy and torque capacity in a compact, highly rigid solution. Integrated with the company's innovative Roller Pinion System (RPS), the Harmonic Gearhead is the only drive solution that maintains zero backlash from the driving motor shaft through to the driven load for both linear and rotary motion.

"We are thrilled with the positive response the Harmonic Gearhead received at IMTS, and believe this product satisfies current industry trends demanding smaller components that provide high-quality performance and efficiency," said Dave Hein, Vice President of Engineering at Nexen Group. "Developing the first, true zero backlash gearhead demonstrates our dedication to innovation and engineering integration that enhances overall machine operation."

Along with exhibiting the new Harmonic Gearhead, Nexen also showcased its RPS to enthused attendees. The RPS improves upon traditional rack and pinion drive systems. Featuring a unique, low-friction design, the RPS delivers more than 99 percent efficiency in converting rotary to linear motion, greatly reducing wear and providing longer service life at high speeds up to 11 m/sec.
