Mixed Media Art's Abandoned Art First Annual Fall Blitz 2012

Mixed Media Art on Facebook is sponsoring the first annual Abandoned Art Fall Blitz 2012. The event is global and anyone may participate who is willing to create a piece of art to give away to a stranger on October 31, 2012.

NORTH PROVIDENCE, RI, October 05, 2012

On October 31, 2012 you are invited to participate in Mixed Media Art on Facebook's First Annual Fall Abandoned Art Blitz. The Fall Blitz will be held in your own neighborhood and will ask you to abandon a piece of your own artwork by tying it to a tree and offering it as a gift to a stranger.

Your art project may be in any medium, style, or size that you choose, however it must bear one of the Abandoned Art Fall Blitz 2012 tags, and be labeled as a 'Free Gift of Artwork'. A loose 'theme' inspired by Emily Jane Bronte's poem 'Fall, leaves, fall' may include an interpretation of "Every leaf speaks bliss to me ~ Fluttering from the autumn tree." If you would like, you may also include the poem somewhere on your work.

Your artwork must be left in a visible public place where others will find it. You can find more information and a downloadable and printable tag to use on your artwork at http://abandonedartblitz.blogspot.ca/

Alix Sandra Huntley-Speirs, co-admin of the Mixed Media Art Group on Facebook said, ""We are so excited to launch what we hope will become an annual, even world-wide, event - abandoning random tokens of Art for a lucky finder! Like leaves fluttering to the ground in the Northern Hemisphere, it's an opportunity to enter the world of creativity even just by happenstance!"

The origins of the abandoned art movement are attributed to its founder Michael DeMeng. This is a worldwide event and can be joined by anyone, anywhere, who wishes to abandon their own piece of art on October 31, 2012.

About Michael DeMeng and Art Abandonment

Michael DeMeng is an assemblage artist who founded the Art Abandonment movement. Art Abandonment is a group designed to encourage random acts of art, left in various locations around the globe. The idea is that folks can make something and leave it for a lucky unsuspecting person to find. Artists can then post locations and photos of abandoned goodies...and finders can let everyone know that they are the lucky finder! O' sweet abandon! Here's an intro page on Typepad for full explanation: http://michaeldemeng.typepad.com/art_abandonment/
