Horse Racing Blog Under Starter's Orders

Horse racing website that started as a hobby sees visitor numbers soar.

COLNE, UK, October 10, 2012

A NEW horse racing website that began as a hobby has seen its website visitors soar.

Horse Racing Chat was launched in the summer with the aim of providing exclusive UK horse racing articles and content.

It attracted between 4,000 to 6,000 page views in its few months but that figure more than doubled to 13,000 in September.

Horse Racing Chat was launched by journalist Jason Heavey, who is Racing Editor of the Daily Star Sunday.

He said: "I'm thrilled with the early feedback and the number of visitors to the site. I started the site as a bit of a hobby and never expected so much interest.

"But the positive feedback has convinced me to put more time and energy into it."

The racing website specialises in exclusive content and features interviews with horse racing personalities. Recent interviews have included former Derby-winning jockey Willie Ryan, and northern trainers Ann Duffield and Ben Haslam.

A regular horses to follow column called the 2yo Notebook has also proved especially popular in identifying the potential of a host of unexposed juveniles.

Horse Racing Chat also features horse racing book reviews and a Famous Horses section containing in-depth features about some of the sport's most famous thoroughbreds.

Jason added: "I felt there was a niche for a horse racing blog that wasn't merely a tipping site. I've got loads more ideas for content and to build the audience, and it's also encouraging that potential advertisers and sponsors have been showing an interest."
