ALTAVISTA, VA, October 09, 2010 (Press-News.org) The Wright Kids, WKDE's (KD Country 105.5 FM) local winner of the Colgate Country Showdown, recently won the Virginia State Final of America's largest country music talent search. The Rocky Mount, Virginia trio will compete in the regionals on October 23rd in Marietta, Ohio.
Held recently during the State Fair of Virginia, the 29th Annual Colgate Country Showdown Virginia State Final showcased acts who had won a local contest sponsored by radio stations throughout the state. The bluegrass acoustic trio of Sage, Baruch and Levi Wright, dazzled the crowd with the driving rhythms and three part harmonies of their songs Outside Help and Upside Down in their brand of country pop and crossover.
The Wright Kids advance to the Northeast Regional at the Marietta Auditorium in Marietta, Ohio on October 23, 2010. Regional winners will receive an all-expense-paid trip to perform on the stage of the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee to compete for $100,000 and the coveted title, "Best New Act in Country Music."
The Wright Kids are no strangers to success. They recorded an opening soundtrack for ESPN's The Bassmasters, received national acclaim as Top 10 finalists on season three of NBC's America's Got Talent and recently opened up for Lee Greenwood.
