Georgia Health Insurance Broker Providence Insurance Group Encourages Immunization Awareness
2012-10-15
NORCROSS, GA, October 15, 2012 (Press-News.org) Georgia group health insurance broker Providence Insurance Group is promoting immunization awareness, so that people of all ages will be reminded to keep up with their vaccines to protect themselves from serious diseases and illnesses.

Though getting all your shots is important all throughout life, early autumn is a particularly important time for children to get their immunizations because it is when they all go back to school. School means exposure to many different people, which is great in most ways, but not so great if you are not protected against the diseases that they may carry.

Kids under six will need a series of shots for measles, polio, chicken pox, and hepatitis. Pre-teens and teens require shots to protect them against tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough, and meningitis. The CDC also strongly recommends that teens be immunized against HPV (human papillomavirus), a virus that has been strongly linked with cervical cancer.

While getting your children caught up might be the first thing on your mind, remember that adults need regular vaccinations too. Every 10 years, adults should be getting booster to defend against tetanus and diphtheria, and if you are 65 or older you should be sure to get your one-time pneumonia shot.

"As a business that runs on providing affordable health insurance in Georgia, we have an excellent understanding of the value of preventative care," explains Drew Holley, Vice President of Providence Insurance Group. "Making sure you are up to date on your vaccinations might seem like a bit of a chore now, but avoiding the health complications you may have incurred otherwise is really invaluable."

Providence Insurance Group provides small businesses with group health insurance in Georgia. The company strongly believes employees with quality insurance are better workers, thanks to better health for them and their families.
