APEX, NC, October 18, 2012 (Press-News.org) Laura A. Schoppe, president of Fuentek, LLC (http://www.fuentek.com), a local technology transfer consulting firm, has announced that five team members were recently recognized with NASA Agency Honor Awards. Honored recipients include Steve Carnes, Lee Ann Obringer, Nannette Stangle-Castor, Amy Strong and Dave Wasby. One of NASA's most prestigious awards, Honor Awards go to individuals and teams who make outstanding contributions to the agency's mission. The awards recognized the Fuentek team members for their contributions to two NASA Glenn Research Center events: the Automotive Workshop and the Technology Showcase.
For the Automotive Workshop in October 2011, Fuentek provided invaluable assistance in identifying and marketing NASA's most promising automotive technologies. Of 150 Automotive Workshop attendees, 146 followed up with NASA to find out more about incorporating space program innovations into their products and processes. NASA Glenn is currently establishing partnerships and licensing deals with multiple companies.
Fuentek also played an important role in NASA's Technology Showcase, which was targeted at regional Ohio businesses. The December 2011 event helped companies learn about the many ways they could engage with NASA in key industry areas, including biomedical, advanced/alternative energy, materials and structures, sensors and electronics, and advanced propulsion. Fuentek was instrumental in developing a "tutorial" on how organizations can work with NASA Glenn, which turned out to be one of the most highly attended sessions.
QUOTES:
"This is tremendous news," said Schoppe. "It is an honor to be recognized for our work on events like these that are playing a positive role not only for NASA technology transfer but also for the economy in Ohio and our nation."
"We are extremely proud our team received these prestigious awards from NASA," said Dr. Stangle-Castor, who leads Fuentek's efforts at NASA Glenn Research Center. "There is nothing better than partnering with our clients to help technologies reach their full potential and to make a difference in people's lives."
