GARNER, NC, October 18, 2012 (Press-News.org) Collectively, they have starred in many of Broadway's biggest shows over the past two decades: "Les Miserables," "Wicked," "Phantom of the Opera," "Hairspray" and more. Now, Broadway stars are coming to Garner once again for the third annual Broadway Voices concert series. World-class vocalists and award-winning stars David Burnham and Alli Mauzey, along with returning Broadway Voices alum Craig Schulman, will be in Garner performing favorite songs from their most popular roles.
Broadway Voices is a collaborative effort among the Garner Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Garner and local businesses to bring three of Broadway's best to the Garner Performing Arts Center for a series of one-night-only full-length concert performances.
Performance dates include:
Dec. 1, 2012, 7:30 p.m. - David Burnham
As one of the top young performers on Broadway today, Burham has starred in multiple Tony Award-winning productions such as "Wicked," "The Light in the Piazza" and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."
March 9, 2013, 7:00 p.m. - Craig Schulman
Schulman is the only actor to have performed three of Broadway's most demanding lead roles: Jean Valjean in "Les Miserables," the Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Phantom of the Opera" and the dual leads in "Jekyll and Hyde." Equally adept at singing opera, Schulman has also performed in "Carmen," "Die Fledermaus" and "Madama Butterfly," among others. His solo concerts have played before sold-out audiences throughout the country.
May 4, 2013, 7:30 p.m. - Alli Mauzey
Currently starring on Broadway as Glinda in "Wicked," Mauzey made her Broadway debut as Brenda in "Hairspray" in 2003. She later starred as Lenora in the Broadway musical "Cry Baby" for which she won a Theatre World Award and was nominated for a Drama League Award. She first starred as Glinda in the Broadway production of "Wicked" in 2008-2009. Mauzey also played the title character in a concert version of "Cinderella" with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra.
Series tickets are on sale starting Oct. 15 for only $75 for all three performances. Ticket orders can be placed through the Garner Chamber of Commerce.
