RICHMOND, VA, October 18, 2012 (Press-News.org) Melanie Friend and Katherine Gray, family law attorneys at CowanGates, will conduct a one-hour seminar at the Holiday Inn Koger Conference Center on Friday October 26, 2012 at 12:30 pm. The seminar, titled "Separation Anxiety," will discuss important legal issues involved with the divorce process.
"A person facing divorce may struggle with legal, financial, and personal concerns. Working with the right attorney can help alleviate the stress of navigating the legal system and allow the client to focus on maintaining stability for the children, healing emotionally, and planning for the future," says Melanie Friend, who, along with colleague, Katherine Gray, will provide a brief overview of divorce procedures in Virginia and answer questions pertaining to child custody and visitation, property settlement, spousal support and child support.

Melanie Friend, a partner at CowanGates, focuses her practice on divorce, alimony, child custody and visitation, adoption and prenuptial agreements. She is qualified as a Guardian Ad Litem for children. Melanie joined CowanGates in 2007 after completing a clerkship for the Honorable Timothy E. Meredith, of the Top Lawyers Maryland Court of Special Appeals. Melanie obtained her law degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary, where she was a member of the Moot Court Team and earned Honors for excellence in research, writing and client relations.
Katherine G. Gray, an associate with CowanGates, is a member of the firm's Family Law Team. Her practice focuses on divorce, child custody and visitation, adoption and prenuptial agreements.
