APPLE VALLEY, MN, October 20, 2012 (Press-News.org) Dakota Dental in Apple Valley, Minnesota, will be hosting a Halloween Candy Buy Back event on Tuesday, November 6, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Open to children from the community, patients or not, the Apple Valley Dental Clinic will trade cash and prizes for candy.
Family dentists Dr. Bennett Isabella and Dr. Shelley Wakefield know that tooth decay goes into overdrive during the holidays. Plaque feeds on sugar and then produces enamel-destroying acid, resulting in tooth decay and possible dental emergencies. To prevent the damage tooth decay can cause, Dakota Dental recommends eating sugary treats only at mealtimes since saliva helps to neutralize the acids caused by plaque.
Dakota Dental believes, however, that limiting sugary Halloween treats is a good line of defense against tooth decay; so it is hosting the Halloween Candy Buy Back event. For every pound of candy a child turns in, Dakota Dental will give him or her $1, up to $5 per family. Additionally, each child trading in candy will be entered in a drawing for a $50 Visa gift card.
For families unable to attend the Candy Buy Back event on November 6, Dakota Dental will also accept candy on November 5 and November 7 during business hours of 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. The candy purchased by Dakota Dental during the three days will be shipped to American troops stationed overseas.
