TROY, MI, October 26, 2012 (Press-News.org) As Breast Cancer Awareness Month winds down, Hansons Windows says its efforts to solicit support for the cause from its customers have been a great success.
Hansons changed its official colors from orange and blue to pink and blue for the month of October, most notably in the form of signs that customers planted into their front lawns throughout the month. The company also made a cash donation early in October to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the leading cancer awareness organization in the United States.
"The response from our customers has been outstanding," Hansons president Brian Elias said. "They have enthusiastically embraced our efforts when it comes to the pink lawn signs. We not only have great customers, they're great people as well."
Hansons customers were photographed throughout the month posing next to their pink lawn signs adorned with the famous 1-800-HANSONS logo. Some of the photos were posted on Hansons' Facebook page and Twitter account.
"This is a very important cause for us," Elias said. "We have done walks and other events to support the fight, but the signs have been a great way for us to proudly show our commitment in a more visible manner, and to engage with our customers."
Elias founded Hansons Windows, known also as 1-800-HANSONS, in 1988. A self-made entrepreneur, Elias started by selling the leads he canvassed door-to-door. As Hansons approaches its 25th anniversary, it has become one of the home improvement industry's largest companies. In 2011, Hansons generated $46 million in sales, offering replacement windows, siding, roofing, gutters, doors and insulation.
