Dr. Rondeau and Associates Helps Relieve Headaches in London

Dr. Brock Rondeau understands that headaches may be more than one thinks, as it could be related to a patient's dental health.

2012-10-27
LONDON, ON, October 27, 2012 (Press-News.org) Many patients suffer from headaches in London, but do not realize that the cause of their headaches is linked to their oral health. Dr. Brock Rondeau is an experienced dentist that strives to provide his patients with the chance to live pain-free, without the annoyance of London headaches. Those who have a poorly aligned bite or are missing teeth often suffer health related problems such as frequent headaches or jaw pain, which can become pronounced.

"Headaches may occur because a person's jaw muscles are working harder to bring the teeth together, which strains the surrounding jaw muscles. If my patients are suffering from any of these symptoms, they may be suffering from a TMJ disorder, which is a painful condition that is often mistaken for those recurring headaches and jaw pain," said Dr. Brock Rondeau, a dentist offering relief from fibromyalgia in London.

The temporomandibular joints are the points at which the lower jaw attaches to the skull, and are among the most complex joints in the human body. If a person's jaw clicks or pops, this could be a sign of a TMJ disorder. The sound of a joint clicking or popping is one of the most recognized signs of TMJ disorders, for which between five and ten percent of Americans suffer from. When the TMJ is not aligned properly, it can place stress on other joints and muscles, which causes jaw pain in London.

Trauma to the jaw or jaw joint can sometimes play a role in TMD, but in many cases the cause of the disorder is unknown. It is also suggested that certain tasks, whether mental or physical, may also cause or aggravate TMD, including stressful situations or teeth grinding. Most discomfort is caused from the overuse of the muscles, specifically clenching or grinding of the teeth, otherwise known as bruxism. These habits will exhaust the jaw muscles and lead to discomfort, such as headaches or neck pain.

When patients experience London jaw pain, it is important to visit Dr. Brock Rondeau for proper diagnosis and treatment. At the appointment, Dr. Rondeau will discuss symptoms with his patients, in addition to examining the affected area. Dr. Rondeau will also explore the pattern of jaw movement to detect sounds and tenderness to gentle pressure. Further diagnostic testing is indicated when the presence of jaw joint dysfunction is suspected.

Since each patient's teeth, jaw joints and muscles are all involved treatment for TMD will vary greatly. Typically, treatment might require several phases in order to properly provide relief for patients from jaw pain, and other complications. The first goal of treatment is to relieve the muscle spasm and pain, as well as to establish normal range of motion of the lower jaw. Next, Dr. Rondeau will work to correct the way in which all of your teeth fit together. This is completed through a temporary device known as an orthotic or splint that is worn over the teeth until the bite is stabilized.

Patients that are experiencing pain or notice sounds in their jaw are encouraged to contact Dr. Rondeau for further examination and treatment. From routine dental care to more complex treatments with London braces, Dr. Brock Rondeau is available for his patients' every dental need.

"It is important to remember that pain is not normal. When my patients experience pain in their jaw, or anywhere in their mouth, it is important that we treat it immediately before further damage can be done," said Dr. Brock Rondeau, dentist providing treatment with CPAP in London.

About Dr. Rondeau & Associates: Owned and operated by Dr. Brock Rondeau, Dr. Rondeau limits his practice to the treatment of patients with orthodontic and orthopedic problems including London fibromyalgia, TMJ disorders, snoring and sleep apnea, among others.
