RALEIGH, NC, October 28, 2012 (Press-News.org) Campbell Law School (http://law.campbell.edu) has announced that local attorney Christopher G. Browning, Jr. has joined the Campbell Law School Board of Visitors to assist the dean, faculty, and leadership in developing and evaluating strategic planning efforts and launching new initiatives. The group also serves as a sounding board to review ideas, while helping to develop and foster important relationships throughout the legal and business community, nonprofit organizations, higher education, and government agencies in an effort to enhance all aspects of the law school.
Browning, a highly experienced litigator, leads Williams Mullen's Appellate team with a strong background in appellate practice, complex commercial litigation, business torts and governmental relations. He joined the firm after serving seven years as the first Solicitor General for the State of North Carolina. In this capacity, he argued four times before the United States Supreme Court and multiple times before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the North Carolina Supreme Court and the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
His past work includes establishment of the policies and procedures for the Office of Solicitor General and the process for that office's review and management of all civil appeals involving the State of North Carolina. Additionally, Browning served as an adviser to the North Carolina Attorney General with respect to appellate issues and other policy matters. Browning is a past chair of the Appellate Rules Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association. He currently serves as the North Carolina representative to the Fourth Circuit's Advisory Committee on Rules and Procedures. He is certified by the North Carolina State Bar as a specialist in appellate practice.
