Unique Concepts Helps Law Firm Become First to Earn LEED Certification

Unique Concepts, a furniture design company in Raleigh, NC recently aided Bowman and Brooke, LLP in earning a LEED certification from the US Green Building Council.

2012-11-02
RALEIGH, NC, November 02, 2012 (Press-News.org) Unique Concepts, a furniture design company in Raleigh, NC recently aided Bowman and Brooke, LLP in earning a LEED certification from the US Green Building Council. This makes Bowman and Brooke the first law firm in South Carolina to earn such a certification.

In order to earn this certification, the project's designer LS3P Associates had to employ many strategies in order to earn the necessary number of credits for Gold status. One of these strategies included using materials that are rapidly renewable, especially bamboo, which was used extensively throughout the offices on doors, walls, and millwork.

Unique Concepts extended this use of bamboo to two conference tables they created.

"We knew we wanted to use bamboo as a material for the conference tables, but we also wanted to employ other interesting materials. When we came up with out designs, we knew that it was going to take a special fabricator to be able to deliver the pieces that we envisioned," says Lisa Kerr Lyles, the Director of Interior Architecture at LS3P's Columbia office, who designed the tables in collaboration with Lauren Lancaster, interior designer for Corporate Concepts, the furniture supplier for the project. "Working with Unique Concepts on this project made it easy for us, and ultimately a success for our client, once they understood what we wanted, they pulled everything together and the result is beautiful! I look forward to working with them again."

Unique Concepts created two conference tables for Bowman and Brooke, both feature a back-painted glass infield as well as a strip of brushed aluminum. A large border of quartz surface, and a border of bamboo were also incorporated into the design.
