Hotels-Paris.co.uk - Paris Stages Counterpoint Contemporary Russian Art Show

Anyone with an interest in Russian art should set aside some time to visit a new exhibition in Paris.

2010-10-14
PARIS, FRANCE, October 14, 2010 (Press-News.org) The Counterpoint Contemporary Russian Art exhibition at the Louvre should provide visitors with a fascinating insight into the works being created in Russia.

It will take place from October 14th 2010 and be available to view until January 31st 2011, giving guests at hotels in Paris plenty of time to arrange a trip to the prestigious arts space.

Travellers may not be aware that France is celebrating its Year of Russia and this collection forms a part of this occasion.

Put together by the Louvre alongside the National Centre for Contemporary Art in Moscow and the Stella Art Foundation, the exhibition will showcase the abilities of about 15 artists from the nation.

A representative from the French venue explained that the show has been arranged "in the wake of" another display that looked at historic Russian art - Holy Russia, which closed on May 24th this year.

If tourists want to check out the stunning items on show, they must head to the Medieval Louvre section or the Tuileries garden.

"Painting, sculptures, drawings, photographs, videos and performance art all make reference to Russian artistic tradition, from the icon to the museum, not to mention a critical rereading of the avant-garde," noted the venue.

Entrance to the museum costs EUR9.50 (GBP8.30) and the building is open every day except Tuesdays. Opening hours are from 09:00 to 18:00 local time, apart from Wednesdays and Fridays, when the complex closes at 22:00.

For more information on this event visit the Louvre website or contact the venue on +33 1 40 20 53 17.
