Isla Margarita, known as the "Pearl of the Caribbean", is the most developed of the three islands that make up the State of Nueva Esparta. Isla Margarita features dramatic mountainous terrain, lush vegetation, flora and fauna, and many stunning white sandy beaches. Temperatures on the island are fairly consistent at 80 degrees, and although located in the Caribbean, it is not in the hurricane belt. With the warm days and cool evenings, guests are provided with a very comfortable environment.
Isla Margarita offers guests and residents alike an array of relaxing and active ways to spend their days. Recreation on the island includes numerous areas for hiking, horseback riding, snorkeling, scuba diving, and windsurfing. Isla Margarita is in fact the windsurfing capital of the world. The island also consists of many places of interest including uninhabited islands, sunken ships for scuba diving, historical forts, and lagoons.
Isla Margarita remains practically untouched, despite how close it is to the mainland and the Latin lifestyle, mixed with the European and American influences, make for a developed, democratic, and welcoming environment.
