WENDELL, NC, November 16, 2012 (Press-News.org) Every year, more than 5 million people visit the Outer Banks. With their many beautiful beaches, historical sites, and wonders of nature, the Outer Banks has and will continue to be a popular tourist attraction. For these reasons the town opened up a Visitors' Center in 2002, which has become a first stop for many of the tourists visiting the area.
The Visitors' Center is a place for visitors to make reservations, pick up brochures, and gather information on attractions in the area. The designer of the space wanted it to be visually impressive, but also able to withstand day-to-day use by the public, so picking the right materials was essential.
The majority of the surfaces were clad in Veneer-Art by Lamin-Art, which features hand-selected real veneer that is pre-finished and ready to install. Other materials such as metal laminates from Moz Designs, Inc. were used as accents. The blue color combined with the wavy pattern provided a "beachy" look to the design. Finally, the transaction surfaces are a coral stone that was quarried in the Philippines.
J Davis Architects of Raleigh, the lead designer for the project, said, "We had a definite vision for the finished product, and working with David and the crew at Unique Concepts helped us realize that vision."
