LOS ANGELES, CA, November 28, 2012 (Press-News.org) Pardee Homes' Crest View neighborhood at Fair Oaks Ranch is big with buyers seeking a spacious family home, personalizing choices and a great community. Heidi and Glen Heinrich are among them.
Glen is a Civil Servant, while Heidi, formerly a nurse and major in the Army, is retired. They have a son and daughter, both pre-schoolers.
"We were looking for a place that works for parents--good schools, things to do and a good sense of community," said Heidi. "We also wanted a large family home with amenities; we were not after a starter home."
Crest View offers some of the community's largest homes and home sites, in a scenic hillside setting. "We really liked the neighborhood itself," said Glen. "The architecture and the generous space between the homes make for a good look as you drive the neighborhood."
From the $500,000s, Crest View designs provide approximately 3,099 to 3,960 square feet of living space, with 4 to 7 bedrooms and 3 to 4 baths. Room options include a downstairs bedroom with bath, a library, an exercise room, a guest suite, an outdoor room, and a laundry/hobby room, depending on the plan selected.
Picking Plan 4, Heidi and Glen then moved to make their home look like them. "When you get to the point that you can choose a house this nice to live in, you really want to maximize the space and make it the way you want," said Heidi. "This is an important investment for us, and we wanted the finished home to reflect our needs and style."
So Heidi and Glen opted for the guest suite, but without its wet bar. "Perfect for a playroom!" noted Heidi. They added a deck to their master suite, chose Advantium appliances and customized lighting with LED illumination--"dimmable plus they last longer," said Glen.
Working with Options Manager Jennie Rickert, Heidi and Glen also picked flooring upgrades. "We had thought we wanted a tumbled stone, and Jennie took the time to point out that with kids, non-porous surfaces are better," said Heidi. "She was wonderful, with great suggestions and the ability to take our vision and make it work, and in time for us to meet construction deadlines."
Heidi and Glen upgraded their price-included solar power system, one of some 30 standard and optional features of Pardee Homes' LivingSmart brand. This award-winning program helps boost energy efficiency, save water and improve indoor air quality. See the model home center's LivingSmart Room, or the Crest View brochure.
"Pardee is on the forefront of energy and green building," said Glen. "We were definitely attracted by solar power and other green measures for our new home, and by Pardee's track record in this regard."
The Heinrichs were also attracted by Pardee Homes' reputation overall, the opportunity for a VA loan and their customer service. "We looked at many other new homes in the Los Angeles area," said Glen.
"Pardee's history here and its dedication to quality homebuilding made a difference to us."
That dedication became more apparent as Glen and Heidi continued through the process, working with Construction Superintendent Mike Bothwell.
"He has been fantastic," said Glen. "He goes beyond what needs to be done to pass inspection; he wants to be sure everything is done right. He addresses all issues immediately, and makes us feel good for bringing something to his attention!"
"Half the stuff that goes into a new house you will never see again," Glen added. "It means something to see the effort Pardee makes to get it right. I'm sure this helps them sell homes--and it should."
As for the sense of community they sought, Glen and Heidi are feeling at home in Fair Oaks Ranch, before move-in. "We have met quite a few of our neighbors because we visit the models so frequently and our sales reps, Robbin and Margie are always introducing us," said Heidi. "My son's best friend lives here, too, so we have friends already!"
This hospitality has also benefited the children. "Pardee has been so accommodating about our many visits, and these visits have helped our kids understand about the house being built and get excited about the move," said Heidi. "This is a huge plus as they make a huge change."
That change will bring new convenience. "The commute will be easier for Glen after we move, and we will do most of our shopping right next door at The Plaza at Golden Valley," said Heidi. "In fact, we'll be closer to more amenities all around."
Those amenities include The Ranch at Fair Oaks Ranch, a resort-style recreation center with swimming pool, children's play equipment, play lawn and a large common room. Nearby is the 6-acre Fair Oaks Ranch Park, a hub of family activities and social gatherings. Fair Oaks Ranch is further enhanced by a hiking and walking trail, open space and preserved oak trees.
Also within Fair Oaks Ranch is the K-6 Fair Oaks Ranch Community School, a California Distinguished School. Within convenient proximity are La Mesa Junior High, Golden Valley High School, College of the Canyons and Valencia's California Institute of the Arts.
Easy access to freeways and a Metrolink station complement in-community advantages. Also within minutes are shopping, dining and entertainment, fitness centers and everyday services.
To reach Fair Oaks Ranch, take the 5 Freeway to the 14 Freeway North and exit at Via Princessa; turn right to enter Fair Oaks Ranch. Turn left at Lost Canyon Road and follow signs to Crest View. The model home center is at 27305 Rose Mallow Lane. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays and 1 to 5 p.m. Monday. Telephone 661-252-2394. Also see www.pardeehomes.com.
