YWCA Harmony House Gift-gathering Soiree Entertains Supporters

Harmony House sponsors supported an elegant evening held in a private residence in Boca Raton. They donated gifts for the Harmony House luncheon on December 4th in Palm Beach.

2012-11-28
BOCA RATON, FL, November 28, 2012 (Press-News.org) Teri Wolofsky, honorary chair of this year's Mary Rubloff YWCA Harmony House Luncheon, and Larry Witte, recently entertained Harmony House supporters in their beautifully architected Boca Raton home. The evening's ambiance of cocktails and "dinner by the bite" was highlighted with a vocal performance, "Opera to Broadway," by the Gold Coast Opera Singers. Attendees donated gifts to be utilized at the luncheon's silent auction featuring a children's corner, holiday gift baskets, and travels to exotic destinations. The luncheon, "Taking Steps to a Peaceful Life," will be held at The Breakers on December 4th.

In thanking Wolofsky and Witte for hosting the gift-giving event, Karen Swanson said, "Teri's passion and energy put forth for Harmony House and the women and children it serves is truly admirable." Swanson is 2nd Vice President of the YWCA of Palm Beach County's Board of Directors.

Suzanne Turner, chief executive officer of the YWCA, explained that Harmony House provides sanctuary and supportive services annually to more than 600 women and children from throughout Palm Beach County. She especially thanked Karen Swanson for not only co-chairing the Harmony House luncheon the past five years, but also providing the leadership in bringing to the YWCA such dynamic people as Wolofsky and Sonja Stevens, who have also co-chaired the Harmony House Luncheon with Swanson. "Karen certainly embodies the characteristics of a treasured volunteer. Even though she has a special place in her heart for the women and children at Harmony House, she also is continually mindful and supportive of the varied needs of the association as well as all the clients and families being served. It makes no difference if a child in one of the YWCA's child development centers, or a young girl in the Y-Girl's program, or a homeless mother and her children residing in the YWCA's transitional housing program in the Glades," Turner said.
