Sonardyne Brasil Opens New Offices in Rio das Ostras

Steve Graham, the Deputy Consul-General from the British Embassy in Brazil has officially opened the new premises of offshore technology company Sonardyne Brasil Ltd. in Rio das Ostras

2012-11-29
HAMPSHIRE, ENGLAND, November 29, 2012 (Press-News.org) Steve Graham, the Deputy Consul-General from the British Embassy in Brazil has officially opened the new premises of offshore technology company Sonardyne Brasil Ltd. in Rio das Ostras. The opening of the new office on Thursday 22nd November coincided with the 20th anniversary of the company first deploying its subsea offshore technology in the region.

Deputy Consul-General Graham unveiled a commemorative plaque before an invited audience of leading oilfield services clients, oil company representatives and local government officials after being taken on a tour of the new purpose-built facilities. He was accompanied by Sonardyne Brasil's Operations Director, Paul Smith and Offshore Business Development Director, Richard Binks who travelled out from Sonardyne's UK headquarters to mark the occasion.

Sonardyne is a world lead in the design and manufacture of underwater acoustic positioning, inertial navigation, wireless communications and sonar technology systems. This technology is used to support all stages of offshore oil and gas field development and following an upsurge in activity in Brasil's deepwater industry, the increase in demand for Sonardyne products and support made it necessary for the company to move from its original offices in the centre of Macae.

At 10,000 square feet, the new Zen building is five times the size of the company's previous office and has been fitted out to the highest specification. The new facilities include a large acoustic test tank for equipment to be tested and re-calibrated prior to delivery whilst training rooms provide opportunities for operators to simulate using the equipment. A large onsite warehouse also allows for stock holding of spares and new products so that immediate requirements for equipment can be met.

Commenting on the opening of the new premises, Paul Smith, Operations Director for Sonardyne Brasil said, "Sonardyne is well known within the local offshore industry as being a provider of the highest levels of support as well as innovative equipment. The investment we have made in the new premises is in response to the sustained growth in business we've seen across the industry in the last few years. Supporting our customers both on and offshore is key to our business objectives and the new facility will allow us to continue providing this high quality service."
