The conference will include workshops, seminars, and facilitated discussions addressing solutions for the global problems we are facing.
The This Way to Sustainability Conference combines student, faculty, staff, industry and community directed sessions with keynote speeches by prominent figures in the green movement. This year's Keynote Speaker is Shalini Kantayya, a Brooklyn-based filmmaker, educator, and eco-activist.
This years sponsors include CashUSA.net, Associated Students of CSU Chico, Chico Natural Foods Cooperative, Lundberg Family Farms, Oxford Suites Chico, and more.
CSU, Chico is committed to sustainable policies and practices that reduce the campus' ecological footprint. For example, they are reducing CO2, constructing sustainable buildings, implementing energy conservation practices, purchasing and investing in environmentally and socially responsible products, regularly conducting environmental audits, and minimizing the use of hazardous chemicals.
The Institute for Sustainable Development has been working diligently to implement the 6th Strategic Priority at CSU, Chico: Believing that each generation owes something to those which follow, we will create environmentally literate citizens, who embrace sustainability as a way of living. We will be wise stewards of scarce resources and, in seeking to develop the whole person, be aware that our individual and collective actions have economic, social, and environmental consequences locally, regionally, and globally.
