CHARLOTTE, NC, October 15, 2010 (Press-News.org) Dori Hunt, M.D., a board certified dermatologist with Piedmont Plastic Surgery and Dermatology in Hickory, was recently honored as the 2010 Don Fox Memorial Lecturer at her alma mater University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK). Dr. Hunt presented two lectures: "Skin Cancer: The Good, the Maybe, and the Bad" and "Chemistry in the Skin World".
Each year as part of the University of Nebraska at Kearney homecoming activities, the Chemistry Department invites a distinguished UNK Chemistry alumnus to present the Don Fox Memorial Lecture in honor of the late Dr. Donald Fox - a former UNK chemistry faculty member, department chair, and Dean of Natural & Social Sciences.
Dr. Hunt graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry. She went on to attend the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha where she graduated first in her medical school class. Dr. Hunt then pursued an internal medicine internship and dermatology residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In her final year of residency, she acted as dermatology chief resident. Upon completion of residency, Dr. Hunt pursued a career in private practice dermatology in Durham, NC. For the last seven years, Dr. Hunt has been performing general and cosmetic dermatology at Piedmont Plastic Surgery and Dermatology's Hickory office.
