Capital Safety Australia Introduces The DBI-SALA Rollgliss Rescue & Escape Device

World's First Conventional Twin Brake Descender!

2012-12-11
SILVERWATER, AUSTRALIA, December 11, 2012 (Press-News.org) Capital Safety, home of the DBI-SALA and PROTECTA brands of fall protection equipment has announced the launch of their new DBI-SALA Rollgliss R520 Rescue & Escape Device. This new descender is the world's first conventional twin brake rescue & escape descender of its kind.

The Rollgliss R520 is a state of the art, easy-to-use fully automatic controlled descent device with a dual braking system that offers a higher degree of safety when using the descender. Unlike friction based descenders, it provides controlled descent self-rescue regardless of the user's weight for the evacuation of multiple personnel, or the versatility of assisted rescue.

"The R520 Rescue & Escape Device sets new standards in performance, rescue and safety," said Rick Millar, Technical Manager for Capital Safety Australia & New Zealand. "The second brake provides increased protection where in the worst case scenario should one of the brake systems fail due to damage or wear, the second brake is able to hold the load, safely supporting the person to the ground."

Available in a variety of lengths, each kit is pre-rigged and ready for use in the event of an emergency. The user simply connects the descender to an anchorage point, attaches the connector to their harness and lowers themselves to perform a hands free descent. The descent speed is automatically limited during the descent, adjusting to the user's body weight, allowing for a secure and effective escape within seconds. The descender's configuration allows the device to operate in both directions - one end of the lifeline descends as the other ascends, readying the system for another rescue.

The Rollgliss R520 Rescue & Escape device can be used from heights of up to 150m from elevated work platforms (EWP's), towers, cranes, buildings or other heights. Its compact size allows the unit to be attached to the rescue box of an EWP basket, crane housing or other suitable anchorage. The system is ideal for use in a number of industries including: utilities, construction & maintenance, fire & emergency services and general industry.
