Solamon Appoints SVP for India; set to Tackle Tamil Nadu Immediately

After months of negotiation, Jay Yeo, President, Solamon Energy Corp., is pleased today to announce the company has appointed of Romy Thomas, SVP India.

2012-12-12
TORONTO, ON, December 12, 2012 (Press-News.org) Effective immediately, Mr Thomas will work with SVP Thijs Boonen and Yeo to continue the development of the Apollo Acre across India and specifically Tamil Nadu. "We welcome Mr Thomas and his understanding of both the culture and language across South Asia and brings a deep pool of knowledge with him that we are only starting to wrap our heads around," says Yeo.

"It has taken over a year to determine whether or not we are on the right path in Sri Lanka, and according to Mr Boonen we are," Yeo explains. "So, together with Mr Boonen, he will enter into discussions with the Chief Minister in Tamil Nadu, which we trust will be very fruitful, and enable him on our behalf to forge a long-term relationship that we believe will keep designers, construction workers and electricians busy for the next five years."

In terms of grid connected energy, according to the Tamil Nadu Energy Development, a government enterprise responsible to increase renewable and decrease fossil fuel usage, Tamil Nadu has achieved tremendous success in harnessing renewable energy for generation of grid quality power. As a share of grid power, renewable energy with installed capacity of 4790 MW accounts for about 32% of TNEB's total grid capacity of about 15,100 MW while the national average is 9% only. During 2008-09, the total units generated in Tamil Nadu from renewable energy sources was 7532 million units of which 11% is grid consumption.

"Having known Mr Thomas personally for quite a number of years, we believe he is an extremely and uniquely valuable addition to our executive team and know he will help us achieve incredible successes in South Asia in the short-term," Graeme Boyce, Solamon CEO, concludes. "He understands the nuances of getting commercial-scale deals done, and we're very excited about his plans to introduce the Apollo Acre and being able to provide renewable energy technologies and solutions that rather huge region."

Solamon Energy typically offers a ground-mounted solar array of integrated photovoltaic cells over a package of land called the Apollo Acre . The company now also develops custom solutions with local partners to provide roof-mounted and parking lot systems that are easily augmented by micro wind turbine technology and other innovative features to supply renewable energy.

About Solamon: Solamon Energy Corp. sells integrated arrays of ground-mounted and rooftop photovoltaic cells. These solar power plants are connected by cable to varied transmission equipment, including converters, inverters and batteries, utilizing 5 acres of land per unit; each unit is called an Apollo Acre . Additionally, it is expected the company's business activities will spin-off many jobs locally, given engineering requirements, construction, unit commissioning and subsequent maintenance.

Solamon Energy Corp. is a Toronto based company providing sustainable renewable energy solutions to the Caribbean, and Central America.
