His new album, You Shoulda Been There, is the next best thing to being at one of his hilarious live shows.

2012-12-14
MELROSE, MA, December 14, 2012 (Press-News.org) It was inevitable that Howie Newman (www.howienewman.com) would release a live album one day. His songs are unique and hilarious but in order to really appreciate what he does, you really need to see him live.

Howie's performances are engaging, interactive, spontaneous - and just plain fun. The audience members aren't there just to listen; they're part of the show.

Recorded at New England coffeehouses over the past year-and-a-half, You Shoulda Been There brings the show to you. Sit back and enjoy.

The set-up
You'll hear the stories and comedy bits that set up these funny songs, followed by Howie's high-energy renditions. It's the next best thing to being there.

In addition to five brand new songs, the album includes updated versions of four of his old classics plus a nice cover of a Lovin' Spoonful hit from the '60s.

The kids
On four of the songs, Howie is backed by his children, Keith and Jen. They provide backup vocals and Keith does some nice flute work on "Do You Believe in Magic?" and "Big in Belgium."

You Shoulda Been There is an amusing assortment of tunes that resonates with people of all ages. Listen, laugh and sing along. It's well worth the trip.

Track list

2. My Baby Can't Parallel Park
3. Our Kids Aren't Kids Anymore
4. Big in Belgium
