SAN DIEGO, CA, October 17, 2010 (Press-News.org) Healthcare Digital spoke with President and CEO of Covenant Health, Patrick Dumelie, to learn more about the largest Catholic healthcare provider, and the largest service delivery partner, in Canada.
Covenant Health is a new healthcare organization, formed by the merger of 16 facilities that serve 11 communities throughout Canada. Though the merger was just finalized on October 7, 2008, the organization is rich in history, having been originally founded 146 years ago by the Congregation of Sisters.
The vision at Covenant Health is to carry on with the principals that the organization began with 146 years ago. A strong passion to help others exists within each of the 14,000 workers at the hospital. "Everything we do as an organization is about living out our calling, our faith," says Dumelie. "That is what grounds us. That is the reason the sisters started this work, and is what will propel us into the future."
Over the last few years, the company has undergone an extensive review of how services are delivered across the entire organization. "One of the main purposes of the different groups merging together was to learn from each other, and implement some real positive improvements in terms of quality," says Dumelie.
