Grauer School Hosts 8th Annual Holiday Event to Benefit Conner's Cause

The Grauer School will host their 8th Annual Holiday Charity Cafe Night to benefit Conner's Cause for Children

2012-12-16
RANCHO SANTA FE, CA, December 16, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Grauer School will host their 8th Annual Holiday Charity Cafe Night to benefit Conner's Cause for Children on Thursday, December 20, 2012, in the Great Hall on the school campus in Encinitas. Grauer students will bring a variety of gifts for 100 children who suffer from life-threatening illnesses or injuries and will wrap the gifts while listening to holiday-themed musical performances from the Grauer Visual and Performing Arts department. Conner's Cause for children is a San Diego based non-profit organization founded over fifteen years ago in memory of Conner Champ, whose family experienced first hand the need to provide critical financial assistance to hundreds of families who struggle to cover the costs of caring for a child who contracts a dibilitating illness or suffers a traumatic injury. The organization ensures that families are provided with the resources to administer medical services and medication to each child in the program and often helps pay for utility bills, groceries and gasoline to and from physician appointments. http://www.connerscause.org

Grauer School Principal, Dana Abplanalp-Diggs remarks, "This is one of my favorite events that the school organizes. Conner's Cause is a small but meaningful charity that provides assistance to over 400 families every year who struggle to make ends meet while supporting the needs of their ailing child. This year the school has adopted 100 children and has promised to send them holiday presents from our Grauer 'angels'. Each Grauer student who signs up to sponsor a child will purchase an age-appropriate gift that they bring with them to wrap the day of the event, then the school provides priority mailing boxes for the students to mail to their 'adopted' child. In addition to knowing that they did something special to brighten a child's holiday, all participating students will be engaging in meaningful community service outreach, a cornerstone of a Grauer School education."

The Grauer School is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), a member of the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS), and is the only school in the region to be honored as a designated UNESCO school. The school serves as a successful educational model for hundreds of private schools around the world through the Coalition of Small Preparatory Schools (CSPS) established by Founding Head, Dr. Stuart Grauer.
