New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera to Celebrate 23rd Season With Open House

The New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera invites the public to attend an open house on January 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Englewood, New Jersey to celebrate the company's 23rd season.

Join the New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera (Verismo Opera) as the company celebrates its 23rd season with Love, Comedy, Obsession & Murder. Artistic Director and Met Opera luminary Lucine Amara invites the public to attend an open house to learn more about Verismo Opera on Saturday, January 5, 2013, 2:00 p.m., at 44 Armory Street in Englewood, New Jersey. A snow date is scheduled for Saturday, January 12, 2:00 p.m., at the same location.

Ms. Amara, Verismo Opera Music Director/Principal Conductor Anthony Morss, Chorus Director Mara Waldman, Stage Director Evelyn La Quaif, and President Dr. James Garvin, MD will discuss Verismo Opera's mission, vision, and history. They will introduce the grand opera company's new season and the spring production of Ruggiero Leoncavallo's I Pagliacci and Giacomo Puccini's Gianni Schicchi to be performed on Sunday, April 21 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC), located at 30 North Van Brunt Street in Englewood, New Jersey.

Opportunities to perform in the chorus, act as a supernumerary in non-speaking and non-singing roles or volunteer with the company will also be presented. A 30-minute video will be shown with highlights of Verismo Opera's professional productions.

The New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera has been a part of the New Jersey music scene since 1989. The opera company, a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization, is the only professional, grand opera company in Bergen County and northern New Jersey.
