NEWARK, NJ, December 20, 2012 (Press-News.org) Everyone deserves to be safe and warm; but due to tough economic times and the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, many of our neighbors can use a helping hand. To bring warmth into the lives of infants, children and adults throughout the area, WBGO Jazz 88.3 FM is hosting its Fifth Annual Coat Drive December 18, 2012- January 18, 2013.
"While reports have said that holiday spending is up, that is just not the case for so many of our neighbors. There are still numerous jobless and homeless individuals, families living in shelters and parents who simply cannot afford to purchase warm coats for their families, " said Cephas Bowles, President and CEO of WBGO. "The economy and the overwhelming losses caused by Superstorm Sandy have brought about greater need for winter coats. We at WBGO believe it is our responsibility as good neighbors to use our airwaves, manpower and strong community partnerships to bring comfort to as many people as possible. Whether you have coats to donate or need a coat for yourself or your family, we urge area residents and visitors to lend or accept a helping hand."
People are encouraged to bring new or clean, gently used coats in all sizes to two the drop off locations:
