Bushart Releases New Hawaiian Jewelry Line: Plumeria Nouveau

Jewelry artist Danny Bushart has released his newest line, combining the essences of Hawaii and the plumeria (frangipani), in what has been described as the "evolution" of Bushart's work.

KIHEI, HI, October 17, 2010

Danny Bushart has released his new line of handmade plumeria jewelry in fine sterling silver. The new line, titled Plumeria Nouveau, seeks to capture the essence of Hawaii, something for which the artist has already achieved widespread acclaim.

"The sweet scent of the plumeria lei is one of my first memories of arriving in Hawaii 12 years ago," says Bushart. "I was inspired immediately, and have wanted to design a line devoted to plumeria for years. With the evolution of my art, I discovered that I could now tap into that feeling in a way that I never imagined before."

For the new plumeria line, Bushart has incorporated a more contemporary look into the intricate "antique" style for which he is known, and introduced a high polish finish.

"The new designs are more dreamy and free-flowing, but there are practical advantages to this evolution in style, too. Plumeria is a dimensional flower, so the jewelry picks up light in a different and spectacular way. I made this discovery as soon as I finished the first piece. It's similar to the way a gemstone sparkles - the petals act as planes that reflect light in many directions."

Bushart adds that the new contemporary style makes it much easier to wear and care for, unlike other design styles in silver. The other advantage is that a single piece can work both ways - it can be worn in a casual or elegant setting.

The Plumeria Nouveau line can be found online at http://www.romanticjewelry.com, or in galleries on most Hawaiian islands. International orders are available through the website.
