SEATTLE, WA, December 23, 2012 (Press-News.org) Growing numbers of young adults are opting for cosmetic procedures, says Dr. Stella Desyatnikova, a facial plastic surgeon in Seattle. BOTOX Cosmetic in particular has seen an upswing in popularity among younger people.
"BOTOX Cosmetic was once viewed as a wrinkle treatment suitable for middle-aged people," says Dr. Stella, whose patients refer to her by her first name. "But young people are beginning to see BOTOX as a viable option."
According to American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS) statistics recorded between 2008 and 2011, BOTOX injections are the non-invasive procedures most frequently performed on men and women younger than 35.
"BOTOX is not just a wrinkle reducer; it can also act as a wrinkle deterrent," Dr. Stella says. "Studies have shown that applying BOTOX to the fine lines that are precursors to deeper wrinkles can prevent those deeper wrinkles from occurring later, in the patient's 30s and beyond. People in their 20s and early 30s who have begun to show facial aging can benefit in the long term from BOTOX."
Dr. Stella says young adults are also turning to surgical procedures to alleviate concerns about their looks.
"I particularly see a large number of younger people seeking rhinoplasty, also known as a nose job in Seattle," she says.
"Dissatisfaction with the appearance of one's nose really transcends age. My goal when performing this procedure is to bring the nose into harmony with the rest of the face. This can be a concern at any age, but people in their 20s and 30s can be particularly conscious of their appearance, whether it springs from early signs of aging or from a characteristic they have had since birth."
The ABFPRS lists rhinoplasty as the facial cosmetic surgery most often performed on men and women younger than 35 during 2011.
Dr. Stella is certified by both the ABFPRS and the American Board of Otolaryngology (head and neck surgery), for doctors who practice head and neck surgery. Her top procedures also include eyelid surgery, which is also known as blepharoplasty. Seattle residents know her as an empathetic surgeon who works to build a personal connection with her patients while meeting their cosmetic needs.
Dr. Stella Desyatnikova is a facial plastic surgeon in Seattle. At her practice, The Stella Center for Facial Plastic Surgery, she employs the latest facial rejuvenation methods to enhance her patients' natural beauty and bring their features into harmony. Her top treatments include blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty, BOTOX Cosmetic and dermal fillers. Dr. Stella received her medical degree with honors from University of Washington. She then completed an otolaryngology (head and neck) residency in Portland at Oregon Health and Sciences University, followed by a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at University of Washington. She is certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as the American Board of Otolaryngology (head and neck surgery).
